Thank you for stop by our club pages. First, let me explane how
I started to wear Kimono myself. When I was young, I had chance
to attend the ceremony of 'Jichinsai'which is the Shinto ceremony
of purifying a building site. Because I'm architect, one of 'older
'recomended to wear the kimono to the
ceremony such as MONTSUKI & HAKAMA style. When I move to U.S.A.
I didn't have much chance to be in kimono until year of 1999 when
I had to ride on the convertible car in Nisei parade as the president
of Southern California Japanese Chanber of Commerce. That was
great idea to show "KIMONO" to so many people as heritage
of Japanese culture. Kimono coordinator and sensei Fumi Akutagawa
helped to put on kimono for me that event and I must looked very
good! Mr.Tsurukame who is good friend of mine also just got set
of MONTSUKI & HAKAMA style kimono then we discuss about encourage
to more peaple to wear kimono and meet at Little Tokyo Downtown
Los Angeles 1pm on January 1st. 2000. That was how we started
the original "Kimono kiyou Kai"(Encouge to wear Kimono
Club). Please come and join with us to be part of LA KIMONO CLUB
member!!
